We’ve all been there—a weekend morning with a clogged toilet, or a late night with a toilet that won’t stop running, or another similar toilet repair situation. Whether or not you realize it, you could be flushing money down the toilet every day by not performing some small toilet repairs. What are the most common toilet repairs that can be easily fixed to save money?
Are You Flushing Twice?
Do you find yourself needing to flush the toilet twice after you use the restroom? If waste is consistently sticking around after the first flush, your toilet might need some repairs. Multiple toilet flushes mean that you are spending twice the amount of money on water than you would with a single flush. The need to flush more than once is often a sign that you need some toilet repairs or even a new low-flush toilet.
Are You Plunging Properly?
We all have small clogs that we break out the toilet plunger for, but did you know that there is a right way and a wrong way to plunge your toilet? First, insert the toilet plunger into the bowl of the toilet. Next, place the plunger over the hole and plunge rapidly so that the water levels in the toilet decrease. Continue to plunge the toilet until the clog disappears and the toilet is flushed.
Is Your Family in the Loop?
Do your children understand what can and cannot go down the toilet? Many costly toilet repairs are caused by things that shouldn’t be flushed down the toilet being flushed down the hole. Cleaning wipes, hygiene products, cotton balls, Q-tips, household waste, and any other things that are not toilet paper should not ever be placed in the toilet.
