3 Cool Upgrades for Your Kitchen Sink

Improving your sink provides an upgrade to the whole kitchen

Upgrading your sink is a great way to improve the functioning of your kitchen

When homeowners talk about remodeling, they usually start in the kitchen.  After all, the kitchen is basically the main hub of a home. Everyone has to eat, so they naturally flock to the kitchen.  But there’s one part of the kitchen we tend to overlook, especially if there happens to be dishes in it! All kitchen sinks perform the same basic functions, but do you know how easy it is to make your sink do a little bit more?

A New Strainer

Look at your kitchen sink, specifically the strainer and flange.  (The flange is the bit that your strainer basket sits in.) Are they starting to show their age? Did you recently replace your fixtures but not the strainer and flange?  If so, it may be time for a replacement.  If your strainer and flange is older than your fixtures, it may not match.  If you’ve answered yes to either of these questions, then it may be time to consider a replacement.  This is a relatively easy process, and you can look up some excellent tutorials on YouTube.

A Soap Dispenser

Most people don’t think much about the soap dispenser unless it’s time to refill it, or they just use the bottle it comes in from the store.  In fact, installing a soap dispenser for your kitchen sink can be quite beneficial.  Is your kitchen sink looking a bit crowded?  If you install a soap dispenser, you will have soap literally at your fingertips and it will get a bottle out of the way.  As an added bonus, you will be able to save money by buying soap in bulk.  This also reduces plastic waste, which is great for the environment.

An Under Counter Water Filter

While this is the most expensive of these options, it can be the most rewarding in the long run.  Installing an under the counter water filter for your kitchen sink gives you delicious filtered water any time you want it.  There’s no need to buy it at the store and carry those heavy cases of bottles.  If you’re going out and you would like to take fresh water with you, you just fill up your favorite re-usable bottle and go! Because you’re using your own bottle and not disposing of all of those plastic bottles, it’s much better for the environment too!
