Have you ever noticed that the shower sometimes runs slightly differently when the dishwasher is running? There could be a reason for that!
You may have noticed that taking a shower isn’t always the most comfortable. True enough, showers can be relaxing at the end of a long, hot day, or energizing when you haven’t had a chance to shower for a few days, but some things can go wrong. This happens most often when the dishwasher is running.
The Water Pressure
There won’t be as much pressure if you shower while the dishwasher is on. This is because some of the water is being diverted away from the supply to the showerhead. So you have to stop and decide if you want clean dishes to eat off of, or a clean you. The thing to remember is that there should still be enough water pressure to go around, so this isn’t necessarily a cause for panic.
Water Temperature
Then it’s time to think about the water pressure. Depending on how dirty your dishes are, you will probably want to ensure that they have all the hot water they need. A cooling shower is probably the best idea when the weather outside is leaning towards triple digits anyway. When you shower and notice that the water is cooling off, it means that the heater’s supply has been expended.
Heater Capacity
Upgrading the tank of your water heater could be something you need to take care of. It’s just as likely something has gone wrong with the heater. Too much sediment? You’ll never know until you can get a professional plumber to come and take a look at it.
How Long You Shower
Taking shorter showers can also make a difference. This is a small lifestyle change that is easy enough to accomplish. Even so, you might be unwilling to do it. If that’s the case, then wait to shower once the dishes are done, or just start the machine after you’re finished showering.
How Your Dishwasher Runs
Chances are that your dishwasher is too old. If it needs to be retired, then you will have to think about where to get a replacement from. You don’t want to have to go without a functional dishwasher!
