Alpha Plumbing installed a new private fire hydrant for a customer in Halethorpe, Maryland. We removed the existing fire hydrant and replaced it with the new one. Next we laid a bed of gravel at the base of the barrel so that it would drain properly and prevent the hydrant from freezing. We covered the stone with filter cloth to help keep the stone from getting clogged with sediment later. Finally, we turned the hydrant to face the right direction and backfilled the excavation.
