Your toilet serves an essential function in your home, and it would be an absolute blow if something were to happen to it. You want to make sure your toilet is kept in tip-top condition, especially to make sure that you do not have to make any costly repairs to keep it functioning, or worse, replace it altogether. This is why toilet care is so essential for any and every homeowner. If you do not know how to exactly take care of your toilet, here are a few tips on just how you can do that.

Know how to plunge

An important aspect of toilet care for every person looking to maintain their toilet to know is how to properly plunge their toilet. Most likely, your toilet is bound to clog eventually and it would be awful if you didn’t know what to do in this situation. Make sure you own a plunger for your bathroom, and if you do not, go out and buy one. If a clog occurs, take your plunger, place a little bit of petroleum jelly around the rim (to help make a good seal), get it to fit properly at the bottom of your toilet bowl, and proceed to plunge to fix your clogged toilet.

Keep it clean

Another good toilet care tip to is making sure your toilet is clean. As you may already know, it is quite easy for your toilet to quickly become a mess, so make it a habit to keep it clean. If you do not want to spend money on the store-bought cleaners that contain a variety of chemicals, there are a number of home solutions you can use to clean your toilet. Vinegar, for example, can serve as a powerful and useful cleaning solution to use to brighten up your toilet. Or if you are troubled by rust, you can use cola to get rid of it and make your toilet look brand new.

Flush properly

It is also important to keep in mind that to take care of your toilet, you need to use it properly as well. Make sure you are not flushing anything down your toilet that is bad for it. Your toilet is not a trash can for you to throw any waste you want down. Also, when the occasion calls for it, remember sometimes you need to flush twice only when necessary.
