Different drain snakes are used to treat clogs in different kinds of pipes.
Drain snakes are one of the types of tools we use to handle drain stoppages at your home or business. They come in many different shapes and sizes and each different type can do a specialized task to help clear a specific drain blockage. What are the different kinds of drain snakes that we use to keep your drains clean? Read on for more information!
Toilet Auger
The toilet auger is a drain snake that is specially made to clear stoppages in your toilet which cannot be cleared with a plunger alone. These drain snakes are what we would use if there happens to be something stuck in your toilet. If you have a business with urinals, there are also specialized urinal augers that can be used to clear up urinal stoppages.
Top Snake
Top snakes are the smallest drain snakes out there and are used primarily to clear blockages in bathtubs, showers, bathroom sinks, and washing machines. They usually have a 25-foot long cable and can be either manual or electric powered. Most drain stoppages in these areas can usually be cleared with the 25-foot long cable of a top snake.
Medium Drain Machine
Used for kitchen sink drain cleaning and deeper blockages, these machines work well with a cable between 50 and 75 feet in length. They are also used to clear the kitchen or washing machine lines from the roof vents. However, they cannot be used for tub or shower blockages as they can break the trap underneath them.
Large Drain Machine
These drain snakes are used for the most heavy-duty of blockages. They are usually 50 to 100 feet in length though they can sometimes be even longer if required. The large drain machine is used for drain stoppages at the roots, which require a strong machine and a hardy cable to do the job.
