3 Ways You Can Tell You Need Toilet Repairs

Your toilet is one of the important elements of your bathroom. So, here are three ways you can identify when to get toilet repairs.

Your toilet is one of the important elements of your bathroom. But chances are, you probably won’t think about it unless you really need it…and it’s broken. Maybe you’ve neglected to clean it, or it’s become clogged and you didn’t notice. Whatever the case may be, it’s possible you can’t tell when it’s time to have your toilet repaired. So, here are three ways you can identify when to get toilet repairs.

The Toilet Always Runs

Is the toilet always running, even when no one is actively using it? Then it’s time to repair or replace it. It’s normal for your toilet to run after it’s been used – a sound you should hear after a flush, for instance. But when it’s running all the time, you should have it inspected. It might have some damaged components, such as flappers or floats. If you catch these problems early enough, you can spare yourself more extensive and more expensive toilet repairs later on.

It Flushes By Itself

Ghost flushing is the name for the odd times when the toilet flushes by itself. It can scare the daylights out of you if you’re home alone and not expecting it. However, it’s a frequent issue. When water drains too slowly, it will affect the operation of faulty flappers and floats. These components will activate. Make sure that the seals inside the toilet are kept in good condition, and to do this, call on your friendly local plumber!

You Spot Leakages

Leakages are another symptom of necessary toilet repairs. The leaks may not always be the easiest to find, but once you spot them, you should realize you need to fix your toilet. Standing water near the base of the floor, where the toilet touches the floor, is a sign of a broken flange. If you find these leakages and water spots, you should contact your plumber as soon as possible. If you do, you can avoid bigger plumbing emergencies.
