Alpha Plumbing replaced the water service for a customer in Catonsville. We excavated a trench from the exit point of the home most of the way to the pigtail of the meter pit. We were able to tunnel under the sidewalk. The plumber drove a piece of copper pipe from inside the home to the outside and then connected to the HDPE piping which extended under the sidewalk and then on to the pigtail. We attached tracer wire so it can be located in the future. Following a successful plumbing inspection we backfilled the excavation and rough graded the soil. On the inside of the home we installed a new dual check valve, pressure reducing valve (PRV) and ball valve right at the entry point. We also installed a new thermal expansion tank above the water heater to bring the home up to current plumbing code
